• Cryopreservation of Ovarian Cortex Tissue September 13, 2026
Ovarian tissue cryopreservation (OTC) is applied as a fertility preservation option for women and girls who are at risk of losing ovarian function due to medical treatments with gonadotoxic side effects, such as chemotherapy or radiotherapy. Especially in prepubertal girls, it is the only option for fertility preservation. Two modes of OTC are practiced: Vitrification […]

• Fertility Outcomes in Leukemia Survivors by Treatment Modality: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis August 13, 2026
Introduction: Leukemia is the most common childhood malignancy. Treatment requires urgent polychemotherapy and may escalate to hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) with or without total body irradiation (TBI). Due to the frequently young age at diagnosis, time limitations and unpredictable course, fertility preservation (FP) is especially challenging and may not be feasible prior to treatment, […]

• Transport Time Does Not Substantially Alter RNA Expression in Human Ovarian Tissue After Standardized Slow-Freezing for Fertility Preservation Mai 13, 2026
Background: Fertility preservation aims to maintain reproductive potential in patients undergoing potentially gonadotoxic treatments, increasingly relying on centralized cryobanks requiring ovarian tissue transport. Ovarian tissue cryopreservation is a widely implemented, evidence-based procedure for young women (age 18-35) with a regular ovarian reserve. The ovaries of patients are typically transported overnight to a centralized cryobank for […]

• Hodgkin Lymphoma-The Effect of Chemotherapy on Gonadal Function and Fertility Is Strongly Related to the Treatment Regimen, Age, and Sex: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis Februar 13, 2026
Background/Objectives: Hodgkin lymphoma (HL) primarily affects individuals of reproductive age, making gonadal dysfunction after chemotherapy a critical survivorship concern. While fertility preservation options including gamete and gonadal tissue cryopreservation are available before treatment, evidence-based counseling requires regimen-specific risk estimates accounting for patient age and sex. Therefore, a meta-analysis was performed to assess presumed infertility in […]

• Development of medical freezing measures in women during the last decade from 2014 to 2023: registry data of the tri-national network FertiPROTEKT Januar 13, 2026
CONCLUSION: The number and distribution of fertility preservation procedures have changed notably during the last decade, driven primarily by shifts in the reimbursement strategies and the type of centres providing care. These developments should be carefully considered in the future design and implementation of fertility preservation programmes. However, decisions regarding specific fertility-preserving interventions must also […]

• Fertility Preservation in Pediatric Oncology: Results of a Single-Center Retrospective Study (2000-2018) November 27, 2025
Background/Objectives: With increasing survival rates in pediatric oncology, late effects, such as therapy-induced infertility, are becoming more relevant. This study evaluated the management of fertility preservation in children and adolescents with cancer at the Medical University Innsbruck between 2000 and 2018. Methods: In this retrospective monocentric study, 552 patients (0-17 years) receiving chemotherapy were analyzed. […]

• Fertility preservation in females requiring gonadotoxic therapy should be more than freezing measures before therapy - secondary fertility preservation and menopause care management after therapy should also be considered Juli 12, 2025
To date, fertility preservation has mainly been offered to patients prior to gonadotoxic treatment. Ovarian reserve is assessed by analysing blood levels of anti-müllerian hormone (AMH), and gonadal cells or tissue are cryopreserved if indicated and requested by the patient. If primary fertility preservation (Primary FertiProtekt) before gonadotoxic treatment was not performed or was ineffective, […]

• Long-Term Effects on Gonadal Function After Treatment of Colorectal Cancer: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis Dezember 17, 2024
CONCLUSIONS: This first meta-analysis of the clinically relevant gonadotoxicity of CRC therapies provides a basis for counseling on the risk of infertility and the need for fertility preservation measures. Despite the low prevalence of gonadotoxicity in cases receiving chemotherapy alone, fertility preservation is still recommended due to the uncertainty of subsequent therapy and the lack […]

• Systematic Review of the Gonadotoxicity and Risk of Infertility of Soft Tissue Sarcoma Chemotherapies in Pre- and Postpubertal Females and Males Juli 12, 2024
Increasing awareness of gonadotoxicity in cancer treatments and infertility risk is essential for counseling young cancer patients. While fertility preservation options are available in many countries, limited data on gonadotoxicity hinder recommendations, especially for soft tissue cancers. This review, part of the FertiTOX project (www.fertitox.com), organized by FertiPROTEKT (www.fertiprotekt.com), aims to address this knowledge gap […]

• BEYOND: a randomized controlled trial comparing efficacy and safety of individualized follitropin delta dosing in a GnRH agonist versus antagonist protocol during the first ovarian stimulation cycle Mai 9, 2024
STUDY QUESTION: How does a gonadotrophin-releasing hormone (GnRH) agonist versus a GnRH antagonist protocol affect ovarian response when using an individualized fixed daily dose of follitropin delta for ovarian stimulation?

• The Australian New Zealand Consortium in Children, Adolescents, and Young Adults Oncofertility action plan Mai 8, 2024
International and national oncofertility networks, including the US-led Oncofertility Consortium, FertiProtekt, and the Danish Network, have played pivotal roles in advancing the discipline of oncofertility over the last decade. Many other countries lack a shared approach to pediatric oncofertility health service delivery. This study aims to describe baseline oncofertility practices at Australian New Zealand Children's […]

• A Systematic Review of the Gonadotoxicity of Osteosarcoma and Ewing's Sarcoma Chemotherapies in Postpubertal Females and Males April 17, 2024
Data on gonadotoxicity of chemotherapies are essential to better counsel young females and males about the risk of infertility and to better indicate fertility preservation measures before cancer therapies. However, such data have not recently been reviewed for bone cancer. Therefore, a systematic literature search was conducted considering papers published since 2000. This study is […]
